Transforming Emotions
Mara Dempsey, B.A.H.
(she/her)
Clinical Associate
I offer a compassionate and collaborative space to support you as you explore and shape your unique story. Sessions are individually tailored, honouring your distinct needs through a humanistic and trauma-informed lens. My goals is to help you navigate life’s intricacies, improve your well-being, find meaning in your lived experiences, and forge deeper connections with yourself and your loved ones, all while recognizing and nurturing your inner strengths.
I help those who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma wounds, concerns related to sexuality, and meaning-making. I use an integrative balanced approach that fosters compassionate self-acceptance (using tools grounded in mindfulness, self-compassion, and strengths-based approaches) while also facilitating meaningful change using tools from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and more.
I am a student in the Master of Clinical and Counselling Psychology program and in the Certificate in Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy at Adler Graduate Professional School. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Psychology and a Certificate of Sexual and Gender Diversity from Queen’s University. I have 8 years of mental health research experience across various areas, such as mental disorders, sexuality and romantic relationships, and improving primary care practices. At Transforming Emotions, I am supervised by Dr. Sarah Thompson, C.Psych, and Dr. Emily Thomas, Resident in Psychology.
