grief counselling
Grief is not meant to be experienced alone.
Although loss is an inevitable part of life, grief is one of the most painful feelings we will experience in our lives. Acute grief ebbs and flows, sometimes leaving us feeling almost normal, sometimes feeling guilty about moments of relative calm, and sometimes hitting us like a tidal wave that brings us to our knees and threatens to drown us.
Grief is not meant to be experienced alone. Many cultures and faith communities have rituals that help us come together to give and receive support in our grief, but not everyone feels part of a larger community and even those who do sometimes need more support. In the end, we must find a way to live with shattered dreams, and with an ache of missing and yearning. When grief leaves you feeling alone and unsupported, working with a therapist can help.
Whether you prefer a psychologist, social worker, or psychotherapist, our team members are here to help you through this painful time. Schedule your free consultation today and take the first step towards receiving the support you need and deserve.

What should I expect when receiving grief counselling?
Grief is a unique experience when it comes to therapy. Grief is not an illness. It is not a problem of distorted reality or inappropriate feelings. It is not a problem to be fixed. Rather, it is a process to be experienced. In early sessions, we will gently listen as you invite us into knowing who (or what) you have lost and how that loss is sitting with you. We will ask some questions to get to know you and your context better, including identifying supports for and barriers to grieving.
Grieving is not about fixing. It is about bearing witness, sharing, leaning in, and holding space for all of the feelings, memories, wishes, and meanings that may emerge. It is not a process to be rushed, but gently unfolded, and that is what we will do together.
