Transforming Emotions
Esztella Vezer, MA
(she/her)
Clinical Associate
Hi, I’m Esztella. I recently completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology and am in the process of registering as a Clinical Psychologist in supervised practice with the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario.
I am well-equipped to help you navigate a range of individual challenges including symptoms stemming from trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, phobias, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, career challenges, life transitions, and sexual concerns. I am also passionate about working with couples, women with ADHD, new parents, and parents of young children.
As a parent myself, I’ve experienced what a wild ride the parenting journey can be, from family planning, surviving the postpartum period and adjusting to new parenthood, to managing little ones’ big feelings, sending them off to childcare for the first time, and facing school-related issues. I am here to help you navigate each of these challenges as well as others that can come with parenthood, such as shifts in identity and changes in close relationships.
In my work with couples, I often see two people who care (or have cared) deeply about one another who have become mired down in stuck patterns and who are desperate to reconnect emotionally. In sessions, I help spot the negative cycles that partners get caught in—often beneath the surface of everyday conflict—and ultimately help create powerful shifts in how they experience one another, creating deeper understanding, empathy, trust and connection. Whether you and your partner are struggling to communicate, feeling like you’re stuck in the same argument on repeat, healing after a betrayal, or just feeling distant from one another, I work to create a space where both of you can feel truly seen, heard, and supported.
Regardless of what is brought to the therapy room, I find it a privilege to work with each of my clients and am frequently moved by the transformations that occur as clients explore their internal worlds, learn about themselves in deeply profound ways, and experience tangible shifts in their day-to-day lives. In our first session, I will work with you to establish a warm, supportive space where we can begin to get to know one another and start making sense of the challenges that you’re facing. Together, we will set goals for therapy that will guide our work and explore what approaches may work best for your unique personality and needs. Together, we will keep a close eye on progress throughout therapy, celebrating the wins and adjusting our approach if needed. In-keeping with my emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, treatment is collaborative throughout and I always welcome your thoughts and feedback every step of the way.
In terms of my training background, I’ve been fortunate to learn from exceptional mentors and clinicians, and my work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT-C), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), psychodynamic therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also draw on tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness-based approaches.
Please feel free to reach out if you would like to see if working together is a good fit.
