I understand that reaching out to a professional may feel awkward or even be looked down upon from others you know due to stigma. That can be a challenge on its own, so I make sure to bring a warm, curious, and open-minded outlook to my work to provide a comfortable and safe presence. I work with racialized adults and primarily those who self-identify as Black individuals who are struggling with challenges in family and romantic relationships, and/or friendships.
It can be challenging to navigate cultural differences in relationships or work through family and racial trauma on your own. Working in the mental health profession for over seven years, I have seen the importance of connection and community in improving mental health and well being. This is why I work my best to help you explore those deeper emotions and enhance communication and self-awareness. We can work together to build healthy relationships and set boundaries with family and friends. I am dedicated to walk this journey with you in repairing your relationships.
My therapy approach starts with meeting you where you are at in life. From an anti-oppressive framework and trauma-informed lens, I look at all systems that can impact your situation. I use an integrative approach of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) to explore those underlying feelings and allow you to see deeper into yourself and your relationships.
I completed my Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and completed clinical training at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) in their Centre for Student Development and Counselling.
I look forward to working with you.
